The Full Story
TRAUMA BASED COUNSELING
In the foster care population, more than 60% of youth will have mental health problems during their lifetime. 30% to 40% of adolescents are coping with mental health issues, including posttraumatic stress disorder. And more than one-third of older adolescents have a chronic illness or disability
Studies suggest that among the 40% of youth in foster care, up to about 80% exhibit a serious behavioral or mental health problem requiring intervention.

The problem is that many mental health issues go unaddressed and untreated, and far too often, the children are blamed for their behavior rather than offered support and care.

Trauma therapy can help you cope with trauma, whether it’s caused by a one-time event, or an ongoing or long-lasting situation. Trauma can include a wide range of situations, ranging from serious injury, sexual violence, and life-threatening events, to chronic abuse and neglect, being bullied, and homelessness.
